On Campus Elective Registration
Students are required to complete a minimum of 20 weeks of elective courses during their senior year at Einstein, in addition to the two Acting Internships. Students may complete this requirement by participating in electives that are offered at one of our affiliates or by applying to other institutions (Host School) as visiting students. All electives MUST be four weeks in duration; electives less than four weeks need special approval from the Deans for Students.
Einstein students have access to a wide variety of established electives that are offered at one of our affiliated sites to explore career choices. Students also have the ability to set up an elective time that is personalized to meet academic and career goals.
Elective Registration
Registration Deadline:
Students MUST web-register for Einstein electives up to 4 weeks prior to the start of the elective. Before you web-register for Einstein electives, we recommend that you review the course descriptions for any specific requirements, the Course Director’s contact information, and where to report on the first day of the elective.Elective registration is on a first-come, first-serve, space-available basis. If an Einstein Sponsored Clinical Elective requires approval from the Course Director, web registration will not be possible.
You must do the following: Contact the elective Course Director for approval to register. If approved, students are responsible for forwarding the approval email to Einstein-MDRegistrar@einsteinmed.org for manual registration.Dropping Electives:
If a student no longer wishes to participate in an elective, the student must drop the course using the web-registration process no less than 4 weeks prior to the start of the elective rotation. Students who wish to drop an elective less than 4 weeks prior to the start of the elective rotation must contact the Course Director and receive approval to drop the elective. If the Course Director approves the dropping of the elective the student must notify the Registrar’s Office immediately.Please Note: Shuttle service is the only form of transportation offered while on electives.
